MODERN FIREPLACE: A UNIQUE TOUCH OF CLASS

MODERN FIREPLACE: INTRODUCTION

The fireplace always has its charm: the warmth that envelops the room while you are comfortably reclining in an armchair or on the sofa is priceless.

The modern design offers a wide choice both for the cladding of the walls of the fireplaces and for the storage of wood. Attention is always paid to the harmony that the environment itself must have in the union of the elements.

WALL COVERING

This choice for the fireplace will be the one that will first catch the eye, so it is necessary to carefully evaluate the various options.

STONE

Stone does not necessarily have to be associated with a rustic style, as if well balanced it can help create a sober and elegant environment.

CAST IRON

I obviously mean a cast iron worked in a modern way! It is usually used for particular solutions and made to measure. This material is perfect for laying a modern fireplace

PORCELAIN STONEWARE

The stoneware slabs give infinite possibilities. They allow you to replicate the aesthetics of marble at more affordable costs and provide many interesting alternatives, even imitating concrete.

WOOD STORAGE

As for the storage of wood, again in the case of modern fireplaces, the possibilities are numerous.

Thanks to the plasterboard, it is possible to create structures of great elegance and simplicity, inside which to place clean wood.

Below I have selected some of my favorite solutions.

NICHE OF THE WALL

A good solution for wood storage is the use of spaces already present inside the wall, perhaps created as bookcases or as a shelter for timber. Or you can create an ad hoc niche when designing the fireplace.

The niche can be divided into several shelves, perhaps of different heights, in order to create a pleasant visual game.

SPECIAL WALL

Some modern fireplaces are located inside large structures that already include an integrated hold for the storage of wood. These are pieces of furniture of a certain grandeur, with clear geometries and cold colors with a minimalist character. These elements are made softer precisely by the presence of wood along the entire height and heated by the flame of the fire.

SHEET METAL COLUMN

A sheet metal wood-holder column can be designed, to be inserted next to the fireplace wall.

The one in the image below is perfectly integrated with both the fireplace wall and the dining table area, thanks to the wooden shelves and bench.

DESIGN CONTAINERS

An excellent solution could be to insert elements in harmony with the environment that can contain some strains.

Among the possible alternatives, a small table or a design table top will be perfect.

Another solution could be a basket in line with the rest of the furniture. Alternatively, instead, a painted steel structure with aluminum inserts that expose the wood to view and with a decidedly minimalist character.

On the market there are hardened steel sheets that allow you to contain the blocks by customizing their shape.

ON THE FLOOR

It is a bold and impactful choice. The simplicity of this solution must be accompanied by great care with regard to cleaning. This applies to both the surrounding environment and the wood itself, to avoid a sense of disorder.
