LEGAL PERMITS TO BUILD A SWIMMING POOL

LEGAL PERMITS: INTRODUCTION

Unlike what you might think, there aren’t many permits required to kick off the construction of a residential inground pool. Certainly each municipality or region has possible variations dictated by their own urban plans. There tend to be only three paperwork involved in applying for permission to build your outdoor pool.

BUILDING AUTHORIZATION AND DIA

Planning permission is the key document without which you will not have permission to proceed with work in your garden. It is granted by the Local Authorities, upon presentation of the application, which will evaluate the project and give the concession to the yard. the DIA, on the other hand, is the simplest documentation of this route. The acronym indicates “Dichiarazione di inizio attività” (Declaration of the start of activity) and is presented to the municipality of residence by filling in some pre-printed forms already made available to the citizen.

WHEN IS DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED?

This documentation is required when the subject pool project is to be considered appurtenant to the main building and when it does not exceed 20 percent of the volume of the dwelling. Thirty days will pass from the time of submission and if no response is received, the project will have been accepted. If this is not the case, the administration will communicate the negative result.

Building permits differ from the DIA because they are required when the planned in-ground pool is not appurtenant to another property or if its total volume is more than 20 percent of the main building.

It is also required in particular cases, i.e. when the territory where the new construction should take place is subject to landscape and environmental constraints.

The advice we can give you to know precisely where to submit the documentation and offices, is to turn to the professionals of our sales network, particularly experienced and attentive, thanks to previous installations, the regulations of your region.

A slow and often confusing bureaucracy could push you to build a pool without permits, or to start before you have officially obtained them. But we strongly advise against it. What could happen? You risk repercussions that will fall on everyone involved: you, the builder and the designer.

In addition, be very careful in choosing the professional to whom you entrust both the design and the execution of the work, avoiding unprofessional solutions or a DIY pool: in this way you will avoid future problems for work poorly done and protect the safety and health of your loved ones.
