Let’s start by saying that making a DIY lamp is a self-made activity that is a bit particular and slightly more complicated than the others. This is because there is a need for a minimum of manual skills with wires and electrical resistances.
But there is no reason to be discouraged, indeed, with the right will and a pinch of creativity, you can create really interesting models! Let’s see how.

For example, creating a lamp with recycled materials is simple, cheap and ecological. Here are many ideas for original and inexpensive DIY lamps to be made with the creative recycling technique.
MATERIALS
The essential accessories to make a DIY lamp are:
- First of all, as we said earlier, a lot of creativity, will and a pinch of manual skills;

DIY IDEAS
WOOD LAMPS
Wood has always been an extremely versatile material, used for ornaments, furniture and design objects.
To build an original wooden lamp and style etno chic, take the base of an old abatjour without lampshade and apply to the metal structure of the wooden clothespins. Place the clothespins by choosing the arrangement you prefer and the congenial height to direct the light beam according to your needs.
If, on the other hand, you want to give the room a Shabby Chic style effect, cover the base of the lampshade with dry branches, pickled in white and arranged vertically.
Instead, the ropes and dry branches are ideal for making date lamps for environments with a natural and Scandinavian style. Long trunks, left in their natural state or painted in white, support the hanging bulbs, while the small and irregular branches are ideal for decorating old abat-jour.
GLASS LAMPS
Since glass is one of the most difficult materials to dispose of, why not reuse bottles and jars to make them suspension light points? Beautifully scenically, the illuminated colored jars will make the atmosphere of the room warm with a soft and dynamic light.
Creating DIY lamps with bottles of famous brands and collectible alcoholic drinks is easy and will give the room a vintage and welcoming atmosphere.
For example, splendid hanging chandeliers are defined by simple wine bottles tied to long black threads.
LAMPS IN RECYCLED PAPER
If you have old books at home that you no longer read or are partially ruined by time, you can use them as a structure for the base of a lamp.
In addition, you can create the latest lampshades simply by using cardboard!
An original idea is also to build small lamps using a glass as the base of the structure and create a lampshade with colored cardboard.
This type of lamp is ideal for positioning as a table centerpiece with a candle inside to create the right atmosphere.
RECYCLED PLASTIC LAMPS
Plastic objects are also recyclable and can be used to create fantastic lamps. Take for example your grandmother’s old phone and use it as a base, while the handset will be used to attach the light bulb.
COPPER LAMPS
Even copper lends itself very well to reuse for new creations. For example, copper pipes, pulleys and closed circuit clocks define truly extraordinary lighting fixtures, which perfectly match the industrial style.
Many companies sell do-it-yourself lamp kits with pulleys, ceiling hooks and cages to be mounted comfortably at home.
METAL LAMPS
Why not give new life to kitchen accessories when are they no longer used or are they too old or partially broken?
In fact, a pasta drainer can become a perfect chandelier to illuminate the kitchen worktop, a cheese grater can become a beautiful soft light lamp for the living room or for a hallway.
Grandma’s old forks and spoons can be brought together and used to become a decorative element for the lampshade of a table lamp or to make the structure of an old chandelier original.
An original idea is to use kitchen whips or ladles as a candle holder to make your work surface in the kitchen welcoming and original.

As we have just seen together, it can be produced a lamp from practically anything: from baskets of old washing machines, perforated crockery holder, tarts molds.
